This past week I was so surprised to see this insane pop up gallery outside Harvest Market & The Coffee Guy (the old Sig’s) I literally stopped traffic to see who was this artist with such wild and beautiful paintings displayed on the side of the buildings and in the middle of the parking lot. The local entrepreneur is Patrick Murphy. He has opened a very cool Newport art gallery – The King’s Lens and Friends – at 7 Carroll Ave in Fifth Ward.
“The Kings Lens And Friends was founded in 2016 by Water Photographer Patrick Murphy. As what started as place for Patrick to showcase his art as well as the talented artist in his circle, It has quickly become a premier Pop Up mecca located on the North East.”
You can read more about Patrick and his gallery – featuring art from James Sundquist – at www.thekingslens.com. It made my day to see such an amazing display of creativity. The scale of the paintings is most impressive. I am drawn to abstract art. The pieces are filled with texture, colors and collage. The hand painted traffic cones morph into very cool sculpture ( I love a good recycle). I plan on finding a large wall to hang one of these amazing pieces on. I have a feeling these paintings will be a great investment.
You should definitely take the time to check out the gallery while you drink really good coffee and dig into some amazing food at the Harvest Market. Collaboration such as this one need our local support. Love Where You Live!
