After a few days in lovely Seville, we made our way via train to the coast of Spain arriving in San Sebastian, a 10 hour trip with a transfer in Madrid. This was my favorite way to travel during the entire adventure, it was comfortable and a lot less stressful then the airport. I highly recommend a train ride if you are traveling through Europe. I used the website Trainline UK, which was simple to book while on the go. This coastal city of Spain was a recommendation by my girlfriend Kelli Nace ( co-owner of Neptune Oyster in Boston). She and her family traveled there last year and had an incredible culinary experience. She was right on the money! San Sebastian was nothing less then spectacular. The bonus for us…IT WAS CARNIVAL! The streets were buzzing with hundreds of people in “all out” celebration mode. Costumes, street fairs, performances, fireworks & TAPAS! The hotel I booked through www.booking.com only a few days prior to our arrival was the perfect location to walk everywhere. Hotel De Londres was across from the beach and very well priced. Our three short days consisted of eating our way through the ancient streets & devouring tapas at numerous tavern-as. Kevin caught an amazing surf session and we reveled in the farmers market, city sculpture & local artisans street booths, but most of all, enjoyed the jubilant Spanish people. There were so many photos and none of them really captured how much we fell in love with this Spanish city on the coast!
