Live Local Luau Good Music, Good Food, Good Company

Quiet Fifth Ward is reinventing itself this summer as the new go-to spot for great food and great fun.  I had the chance to stop by the Live Local Luau this weekend hosted by The King’s Lens – a precursor to the Live Local NPT Music and Arts festival to take place on July 20th.  The laid back bohemian atmosphere of the event drew a crowd of ages old and young, and absolutely everyone enjoyed the food from the impressive selection of vendors.  After working up an appetite listening to The High Tidals , I grabbed an original chicken sandwich from Fifth Ward fave, Winner Winner, whose station at the luau was busy throughout the whole event.  I sipped on a pomegranate beer from Newport Craft, which did the trick in cooling me down on this particularly balmy, late June day.  Luau attendees also had the option of perking up with a coffee from The Coffee Guy, or grabbing a bite from Harvest Market.  An afternoon well spent, I’m glad to have stopped by. Live Local NPT sets the perfect example of knowing how to love where they live!
